KAMLOOPS — A pair of golf pros from the Kamloops Golf & Country Club are coming home with some hardware.

Alec Hubert and Ian Henson combined to win the 2019 PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship on Tuesday at Copper Point Golf Club in Invermere.

“Since I moved to B.C., it’s been a goal of mine to get my hands on a trophy, and an event like this where you have a partner and have some fun out there is one of the ones you really want to win,” said Hubert.

The pair were the opening-round leaders with a seven-under 64 on Monday. They followed it up with an eight-under score on Tuesday to secure the win. Finishing at -15, Hubert and Henson won by one stroke over a team from Kelowna.

Hubert aced the 17th hole in the tournament’s opening round.

“It’s always exciting to make an ace, but especially so when something’s on the line,” said Hubert. “That certainly was huge for us in winning.”

It was the first major victory for both Hubert and Henson.
