Fire at Eaglepoint Golf started by ‘bee smoker’

KAMLOOPS — You don’t often see a grass fire start in the middle of a golf course, but that’s what happened at Eaglepoint in Barnhartvale yesterday afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Robb Schoular says they were called yesterday to a 200 square meter fire in the middle of the golf course.

They put it out quickly, and the cause ended up being a bee smoker.

When the beekeeper wants to harvest the honey in a hive, they use a smoker to produce smoke to quiet the bees down.
