KAMLOOPS — UPDATE: A flash hail storm on the Coquihalla this afternoon led a pair of crashes when the inclement weather forced a few vehicles off the road.

The collisions happened before noon when hail suddenly hit a section of the Coquihalla near the Logan Lake exit.

According to the BC Ambulance Service, there were two separate incidents with eight people involved.

One of the passengers was airlifted to Royal Inland Hospital in serious condition.

The seven others were stable and taken to hospital by ground.

The chaos closed the Coquihalla in both directions for a couple hours this afternoon.
