Kamloops’ Ludvig selected in third round of 2019 NHL Draft

VANCOUVER — In today’s third round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Kamloops native, John Ludvig has been drafted by the Florida Panthers.

The 69th pick has been playing with the Portland Winterhawks for the last two seasons.

The 6’1″ 198 lbs defenceman had been ranked 128th by NHL Central Scouting leading up to the draft.

Ludvig’s father, Jan Ludvig, was a former Kamloops Junior Oiler in the early 1980’s, and played in 7 NHL seasons with the New Jersey Devils, and Buffalo Sabres.
