B.C. sending more firefighters out of province

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service is sending more firefighters out of province to battle fires in Alberta and the Yukon as others prepare to return.

Nearly 140 personnel will begin leaving for Alberta Monday and another seven will leave for the Yukon on Sunday.

More than 260 firefighters who had already been assisting in Alberta will be returning between June 6 and 8.

The BC Wildfire Service states there are enough resources remaining in the province to respond to any fire activity that may happen, and crews may be recalled if the situation calls for it.
