Kickoff for Stampeders, Roughriders pre-season CFL game delayed

CALGARY — Kickoff for the pre-season CFL game between the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders was delayed 30 minutes Friday.

Smoke from forest fires in northern Alberta blanketed Calgary and Environment Canada’s air quality index rated the city high risk for most of the day.

Visibility began improving in the evening.

“The league has consulted weather experts who advise the air quality is at acceptable levels for the pre-season contest between Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders,” the Stampeders said in a statement prior to kickoff.
