MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt’s only craft brewery is new on the scene and enjoying success in its first few weeks of operation.

The Empty Keg Brew House has been open just over three weeks now.

The business venture was the brainchild of husband and wife duo, Kyle and Kelly Hall.

Kyle started brewing his own beer 28 years ago and has now made his hobby into his career.

“You know, we really focus on the community, supporting local businesses and as well using B.C. product,” Kyle said. “From our grains, from our hops, to even a lot of our suppliers for food and such.”

“And, our honey comes directly from Nicola Valley Honey, right here in Nicola Valley Apiaries,” added Kelly. “They have so generously donated a huge amount of honey to get us started on some of our brew.”

The Empty Keg has eight beers on tap, which will be rotated.

The Halls say the customers have enjoyed the unique atmosphere and ‘unplugged’ theme.

“It’s relaxed, it’s friendly, you know what, just come in play some games, if you want to have some beer that’s great, you want to just socialize, that’s okay too,” Kyle said.
