KAMLOOPS — Nathaniel Jessup will stand trial next week, accused of murdering a fellow inmate in 2014.

But the Creston RCMP have now announced a second murder charge against Jessup.

The 32-year-old has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of 58-year-old Katherine McAdam in 2015.

In a news release, police say McAdam was last seen on Aug. 15, 2015. On Aug. 27, her remains were found in nearby Erickson.

Jessup is also charged with offering an indignity to a body. He was arrested earlier today.

Police believe Jessup and McAdam were casual acquaintances at the time of her death.

“We have worked hard to get to this point, but we recognize that the work is not over as we prepare now for the court process,” said Sgt. Steven Rigby of the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit. “Our thoughts are with Katherine’s friends and family, as they too prepare themselves for court proceedings. Despite their grief at the loss of Katherine, they have been very supportive of our investigation and patient throughout this process, we will continue to support them as the process continues and only hope this arrest brings them some comfort, he continues.”

On Monday, Jessup will stand trial in B.C. Supreme Court in Kamloops. He is accused of killing 20-year-old Dylan Judd in November 2014, while they were both inmates at Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.

Judd’s death was not initially considered suspicious, but the BC Coroners Service alerted police to potential criminality several months later.

According to court documents, Jessup also goes by Nathan Christie and Jessie McCullen.

Anyone who had contact with Jessup or McAdam in mid-August, 2015 is asked to call the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit at 1 (877) 987-8477.
