Traffic pattern changed on West Victoria Street

KAMLOOPS — The traffic pattern has changed in the area affected by the Victoria Street West reconstruction project.

As the project enters Stage Two, traffic will be restricted to the north lanes of the West Victoria corridor from Seymour Street West near the BCLC upper parking lot to the Overlanders Bridge.

This stage started Sunday, and sees construction taking place on the south side of the road.

“I think we had a few hiccups there to start,” said Capital Projects Manager Darren Crundwell. “We didn’t have the whole detour implemented but I think now people will see this traffic pattern, work on the south side and all travel on the north side, they’ll see this for the next two or three months.”

Stage Three and Stage Four will see the work move to the other side of the road.

Crundwell says the city is working to accomodate businesses.

“Depending on which side of the road we’re working on, those businesses will see more traffic in front of their doorstep versus construction equipment on the other side of the road, then it just flips to the other side.”
