KAMLOOPS — A man has been transported back to Kamloops after his B.C. warrant was extended to Alberta.

Kamloops RCMP say this came after police released Jessie Dean Kowalchuk’s photo to local media as part of the weekly “Most Wanted” feature.

Kowalchuk reached out to CFJC Today with a Facebook direct message after seeing his photo on the website.

“News flash morons I’m in Edmonton and not coming back,” Kowalchuk told CFJC Today in January 2019.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says after CFJC Today passed his message along to the detachment, police approached the B.C. Prosecution Service who extended Kowalchuk’s three outstanding warrants to Alberta.

On May 10, Kowalchuk was checked by the Edmonton Police Department, who found he had outstanding warrants from B.C. Kowalchuk was remanded and transported back to Kamloops.

“We are very pleased that Jessie Kowalchuk sent the message advising that he was living in Alberta,” Shelkie said. “It’s important that people who are wanted realize they can’t relocate to avoid their legal issues. (Sooner) or later, the police will find them. In this case, the suspect aided us by giving… his current location.”
