Dec 30, 2018 | 11:10 AM

VAVENBY — Vavenby residents are being warned not to drink from the TNRD Vavenby Community Water System, after a diesel spill in the North Thompson River.

As a result of a diesel spill in the North Thompson River upstream of Vavenby after a motor vehicle accident early this morning, (Dec. 30), the Interior Health Authority has issued a DO NOT USE Order for users of the TNRD Vavenby Community Water System.

In a release, the Thompson Nicola Regional District says the duration of the order is unknown at this time, and subject to the results of the water samples being collected.

All water users are advised to use bottled water or an alternate source of water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, bathing, and food preparation until further notice.
