Liam, Olivia top B.C. baby name list for 2018

KAMLOOPS — B.C.’s health ministry has released its list of top baby names for 2018, and Liam has taken top spot overall.

The totals are preliminary, running from January 1, 2018, to December 18.

For boys, Liam was followed in popularity by Oliver and Benjamin.

Olivia remains the most popular name for girls.

It has been number one on the girls list for six of the past seven years.

Olivia was followed by Emma and Amelia.

Benjamin and Olivia were the top names for boys and girls respectively in 2017.

To December 18, B.C. has seen 40,565 babies born — 19,281 girls and 20,744 boys.

There were a total of 44,694 babies born in 2017.
