KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue says the occupant of a unit at the Northbridge Hotel dozed off while smoking, leading to a destructive fire this morning.

The blaze in a third floor suite led to the evacuation of the building, with 33 occupants now receiving social services.

KFR investigator Ray Webster says the man who was in the bed when it ignited suffered from some minor burns and smoke inhalation.
