MERRITT, B.C. — RCMP are still investigating the rash of arsons that took place in that community last Friday.

RCMP Spokesperson Const. Tracy Dunsmore says there were four separate incidents of attempted arson, including the fire that claimed the historic Murray Church on Nicola Ranch.

Dunsmore says police have scoured each crime scene for evidence, and are now hoping for the public’s assistance in finding out who is responsible for the four incidents that took place late last week.

“We gathered some evidence at the different scenes, and have sent those off. We’re waiting for some return on those,” Dunsmore told CFJC Today. “[We’re] still looking for some information from the public. If they have any information on vehicles they may have seen, anything they make heard, [anything] on social media. Anything like that.”

If you have any information regarding the attempted arsons, you’re asked to contact Merritt RCMP.
