Music News for Tuesday
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE VISITS TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: Justin Timberlake took a break from his Man of the Woods tour to pop in and pose for pictures with the young patients at HCA Healthcare’s Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. A video of the kids was widely shared, with many in their hospital beds as they danced to Timberlake’s hit “Can’t Stop The Feeling” with its refrain of “got some sunshine in my pocket.” The kids held up signs that read “JT See me!” and on Friday afternoon JT obliged. One girl in a picture with Timberlake held up a sign that read “JT saw me!” Photos appeared all over Twitter and Instagram following the musician’s appearance, showing him posing with patients and staff members and throwing up peace signs with one young fan. Timberlake even helped one patient celebrate a big milestone: ringing a bronze bell, a tradition at the hospital to celebrate finishing a final round of chemotherapy. The 37-year-old singer recently resumed his tour after canceling several dates because of bruised vocal chords.
MILEY CYRUS & MARK RONSON PERFORM ‘NOTHING BREAKS LIKE A HEART’ BACKED BY STRING SECTION: Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson recorded a live version of “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” at Electric Lady Studios for Vevo. The pair released the single in December. Joined by a live string section, Ronson and Cyrus stripped down the pop song to tease out more of the country tones to it. Ronson and Cyrus recorded the track at the historic Electric Lady Sound Studio in Greenwich Village, New York City, originally built by Jimi Hendrix. The classic venue provides an authentic live feel to the song. “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” is the lead track from Ronson’s forthcoming, guest-filled album. The record does not have a release date currently.
BECKY G RELEASES BILINGUAL TRAP SONG ‘LBD’: Becky G dropped her bilingual trap song “LBD” on Friday. The 21-year-old rolled singer ventures into the world of trap with her flirty tune, as she sings about entrancing someone with her “little black dress on.” She also offers visuals, with the song’s red cover art as well as a lyric video depicting a caricature of the brunette beauty wearing an LBD and stilettos. The track follows her massive hits “Mayores,” which has over 1.4 billion video views and “Sin Pijama” with Natti Natasha, which has over 1.2 billion YouTube views and was one of only two videos on VEVO to hit 1 billion views last year.
