VIDEO: Summit & McGill reopened after morning crash

KAMLOOPS — UPDATE (1:17 p.m.): Police are releasing more information about a crash at Summit Drive and McGill Road earlier today.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the crash happened when a pick-up truck was making a left turn from Summit Drive onto McGill Road, and a car crossed the intersection contrary to the lights.

The car ended up striking the pick-up on its passenger side, causing it to flip onto its side.

Both drivers had minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

The accident closed the intersection for a short time.

UPDATE (9:55 a.m.): RCMP say the intersection is now open.

EARLIER: A vehicle collision in the intersection of Summit Drive and McGill has closed off that area to all traffic this morning. (Jan. 25)

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.

Traffic on McGill is be redirected up Summit Drive, and traffic on Summit Drive is being redirected into the Sahali area.

RCMP will release more information when the intersection is re-opened.
