TOP CHEF FATIMA ALI DIES AT 29: Top Chef alum Fatima Ali has died at age 29 after a battle with bone cancer. Ali was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma in 2017; in 2018 she was declared cancer-free, but then found out in September that the cancer had returned. She was given one year to live. Her last post on Instagram came January 10th. “I know it’s been ages since I posted and most may have figured out why. I’m sick and unfortunately I’m getting sicker,” she wrote. “Right now all I need are prayers; prayers that are simple. I hope, because a wish is putting on too much responsibility on the other, that you will somehow find forgiveness in your big heart for whenever I must have hurt you. I thank you a million times over for when you have given me joy. I’ll try to keep everyone updated the best that I possibly can.”
KATE BECKINSALE HOSPITALIZED: Kate Beckinsale has been hospitalized with a ruptured ovarian cyst. The 45-year-old actress shared her woes on Instagram. “Turns out a ruptured ovarian cyst really hurts and morphine makes me cry,” she captioned the post. “So thankful to everyone who looked after me.”
IS BRYAN SINGER’S CAREER OVER? Disgraced Bohemian Rhapsody director Bryan Singer‘s career may be dead due to a new round of sexual assault allegations against him, Page Six reports. The film grossed $800 million and garnered five Oscar nominations, but now producers are as unwilling to work with him as they are Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey and Woody Allen, sources say.
STEVE MARTIN TAKES ON ROGER STONE: Steve Martin returned to Saturday Night Live to play former Trump advisor Roger Stone, who made headlines after getting nabbed by the FBI Friday morning and charged with seven counts in federal court, including one count of obstruction, five counts of false statements and one count of witness tampering. In the skit, Martin appeared as Stone in a Fox News parody hosted by Alex Moffat as Tucker Carlson. “Mr Stone, what I think you’re really trying to say is that you’re a feeble old man, right?” said Moffat-as-Carlson. “Oh right, the pity thing… I’m just a poor, helpless old man.” Martin replied. “The whole experience was so harrowing. And afterwards I could only manage one radio interview, and a speech from the steps of the courthouse… It’s horrible!”
