TAYLOR SWIFT BEATS LAWSUIT CLAIMING SHE STIFFED REAL ESTATE BROKER ON $1 MILLION COMMISSION: Taylor Swift has emerged triumphant in a lawsuit filed against her by a New York City real estate broker who claimed she didn’t pay him the $1.08 million commission on the purchase of her Lower Manhattan townhouse. Taylor’s defense was that she never signed a contract with the broker. According to Page Six, the broker showed a rep for Taylor the property in February of 2017. Taylor bought it eight months later for $18 million, but the broker didn’t get any money for the deal. The broker’s firm sued, but a judge threw out the suit, agreeing with Taylor’s argument that the broker didn’t have “any formal agreement” with the singer, and that there was no “enforceable contract.” The judge noted that an “informal email” from the broker about showing the property to Taylor’s rep wasn’t enough to prove the broker’s involvement. The townhouse is located on a street in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, and Taylor already owns three apartments on the same street.
