January real estate sales totals in Kamloops mirrored the same month in ’18

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops real estate market has started off 2019 with a case of deja vu.

New numbers from the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association (KADREA) show 157 home sales last month – nearly identical to the 158 homes sold in January of 2018.

As of the end of January, Kamloops saw 937 active listings, a nine per cent bump from the same time last year, but KADREA President Doren Quinton says much of the increase has taken the form of development lots or apartments.

Prices continue on the rise, with an average residential sale price eclipsing $411,000 in January.

That’s an eight per cent jump from the same time last year.

The busiest areas of the city for sales in January were South Kamloops, followed by Brocklehurst, Aberdeen and Westsyde.

Quinton says demand is strong and supply is relatively low, meaning homes are selling quickly and prices are stable.
