Conservatives agree to remove attack ad spoofing “Heritage Minute” format
OTTAWA — The federal Conservatives say they have taken down an attack ad that spoofed the famous “Heritage Minute” format.
A party spokesman says the ad “was obviously intended as parody,” but nonetheless the party will post an edited version that makes clear it was not produced by Historica Canada.
Earlier in the day, the non-profit organization known for producing the “Heritage Minute” TV spots called on the Tories to remove the ad.
It said that while Historica Canada often welcomes parodies of the format, it does not approve of them being used for partisan political purposes.
