REVELSTOKE, B.C. — UPDATE: Highway 1 is now open to single-lane alternating traffic after a vehicle incident earlier this morning.
Drive BC is warning motorists to expect congestion and delays.

Highway 1 is closed in both directions this morning due to a vehicle incident west of Revelstoke.
Drive BC says the incident is between Griffin Lake Avalanche Gate and Three Valley siding.
An assessment is in progress and drivers should expect delays in the area. There’s no estimated time of reopening, but another update is expected later this morning.
Snow has caused treacherous road conditions across the Southern Interior this morning (Feb. 12), and Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie is warning motorists to slow it down.
“With this temperature that’s warming up during the day and then cooling down at night, and then when we do get this extra bit of snow it makes for really treacherous driving conditions,” she says. “You really need extra time and extra distance when it’s this type of driving conditions, and that way it’ll help you keep safe and keep others in other vehicles around you safe as well.”
The Trans Canada isn’t the only highway experiencing tough conditions today. The Yellowhead Highway from Kamloops to south of Barriere has slippery sections due to snow, along with Highway 1 east of Kamloops, the Coquihalla Highway south of Kamloops, and Highway 5A.
One car on the Yellowhead Highway south of Barriere went off the road this morning.
Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says snow should taper off in Kamloops by this afternoon. For the Coquihalla, roughly five to 10 centimetres is expected before this evening.
“Anybody travelling either through the Interior or out to the coast should definitely make sure they have their winter preparedness kit with them, emergency kit as well as appropriate tires,” he says. “Visibility can also be reduced in snow.”
