KAMLOOPS — Westsyde Road is open again after being closed much of the night because of an accident.

Two vehicles collided head on near McQueen Road just past the intersection with 8th Street Sunday night ( Feb 24).

Three people had to be taken to hospital, one from one vehicle, two from the other.

Their condition isn’t known at this point, but at least two of the victims were believed to be seriously injured. All were Kamloops residents.

Staff Sergeant Vic Steinhammer says the incident happened about 7:30 PM Sunday.

One vehicle was over the bank on the south side of the road.

There was a detour around the accident site, but the road itself was closed until close to 4:00 AM.

Staff Steinhammer says they had to clean the road thoroughly after the accident, so residents travelling in that area this morning should use caution as it might be slippery.

While police were investigating the accident, another driver failed to obey the flag people and the officers at the scene.

That driver eventually was stopped, and was issued with a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition.
