Vehicles collide as snow falls on Coquihalla Highway

While the semi rolled over on one side, the smaller vehicle went down an embankment on the right-hand side of the road, which they were unable to get out of on their own.

“A semi and a vehicle lost control, they bumped into each other. Nothing too serious so that’s good. The people in there are fine, they were just stuck so they couldn’t get up the hill.”

While there were no injuries to either party involved, Murray says KFR members had to set up a rope system to pull the vehicle’s occupants up the hill.

“Well they’ve got some sand out now, but it’s slick. It’s that temperature. It’s not terribly cold so the snow is not all that sticky, it’s kind of wet. It’s just tough. Gotta slow down.”

There have been at least a pair of crashes on the Coquihalla Highway south of Kamloops today as snow continues to fall on the area.

A CFJC News crew on scene says both crashes are in the area of the turnoff to Logan Lake, Highway 97D.

In one case, a truck was seen overturned on the side of the road.

Further south, a collision had taken place between a transport truck and a small SUV.

The SUV went down an embankment, and first responders could be seen pulling an occupant back up toward the roadway with a line attached to a spineboard.

The extent of injuries to any of the occupants is not known.
