Prescribed burn gets out of hand in Barriere

KAMLOOPS — A prescribed burn got away Sunday afternoon and had to be tackled by Barriere fire crews.
Crews had to deal with the fire off the Fortune frontage road in Louis Creek, which had started to spread uphill towards a mobile home park.
Crews were hampered by the fact there was no water on site.
The fire had grown to about 2 acres in size.
Fire officials say it’s just another example of how dry the woods are despite their appearance and the time of year.
