KAMLOOPS —It appears a grass fire near Aberdeen Mall has been taken down as quickly as it began.

Reports began coming in shortly after 3 pm this afternoon of a grass fire off of Hillside Drive, in the industrial area below Aberdeen Mall.

Platoon captain Wade Lindoff of Kamloops Fire Rescue says it didn’t take long for the fire to spread in the dry grass near Hillside Drive.

“There’s just a lot of fine fuels out there,” Lindoff told CFJC Today. “With the few days of sunny weather we’ve had, they dry out in a hurry. we’re back into grass fire season.”

Despite those dry conditions, KFR was able to extinguish the fire before it go out of hand.

“We responded with a number of apparatus, so when we got on scene we were able to knock it down fairly quickly,” Lindoff said.
