KAMLOOPS — Tickets are officially on sale for the 2019 YMCA-YWCA Dream Home Lottery.

As of 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, people can purchase individual tickets for $100 or value packs of five tickets for $400.

The grand prize home, located in Tobiano, is valued at more than $840,000. With more than 630 other prizes available, lottery spokesperson Bryce Herman says tickets are already selling quickly.

“Tickets have been flying out the door, they really have,” Herman said. “It’s amazing, the online system has been holding stable so far, you always worry about that, but it’s been holding well.

“I did check in with the CEO of the Y and I said, ‘How’s everything going?’ and he said, ‘Well, we have a line up out the door at the downtown Y right now,’ so if that’s any indicator, obviously this lottery is off to an amazing start.”

Last year value packs sold out in two and a half days and all tickets were sold out within thirteen.

This year, more tickets have been added for a one in 15,000 chance to win the grand prize.

Proceeds from the lottery go to programming at the YMCA.

“All proceeds stay right here in Kamloops and allow the Y to do the amazing work they do,” Herman said, “whether that’s the women’s shelter, whether it’s the outreach programming, youth, child-minding services, all of the things that just enrich our lives here in our community.”
