Traffic advisories out for Coachella, Stagecoach festivals
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Travellers planning to drive through the Indio area of the Southern California desert should prepare for heavy traffic each weekend for the rest of the month due to the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals.
The California Department of Transportation says the festivals affect traffic on Interstate 10 and State Route 60.
Peak travel days for eastbound traffic are the Fridays before the events. Sundays are peak travel days for westbound traffic.
Caltrans advises that people travelling to the events on northbound Interstate 15 should be aware of long-term closures of routes 74 and 243 for storm damage repair and instead connect to Interstate 215 north to the 10 or 60.
