Kamloops barbecue lunch pays thanks to volunteers across the city

KAMLOOPS — Volunteers for the many events put on throughout Kamloops were guests of the City in an appreciation lunch Friday.

The ninth annual barbeque celebrated those in the community who give freely of their time, for what is often important work.

“Whenever an event is, these people are out there rain or shine, giving of themselves, and to give them a couple burgers and things like that seems like almost not enough for what they’ve done for us,” city councillor Dieter Dudy said.

More than 100 people attended the barbeque — a group representing a wide variety of residents who pitch in to make Kamloops a welcome and better place.

Volunteers who attended told CFJC Today they do the work to give back to the community and connect with people.
