Kimmel turned 50 in November, the age the American Cancer Society recommends starting tests for colorectal cancer. In a sneak peek shared with People, Kimmel and Couric hit Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.

  • “So we’re going to take a careful look in your colon today and the goal is to identify polyps. So if we see any polyps, we’ll remove them,” Dr. Christina Ha tells Kimmel.
  • “And then I can have it?” asks Kimmel. “Whatever is in there, I need. I want all the pieces. I want this to be like an Ikea bookshelf where you’re like, ‘Why are these screws left over?’ “
  • Couric, 61, adds that Kimmel, “wants to put it on his desk.”
  • When Couric asks why more people don’t get screened, Kimmel is quick to answer: “Because they go up you’re a–! That’s why.”
  • Couric’s mission to up colon cancer awareness is personal. Her husband Jay Monahan died from it 20 years ago.
