Rogers Hometown Hockey aims to ‘lift spirits’ following devastating wildfires in Williams Lake
KAMLOOPS — It’s starting to look a lot like a Hometown Hockey weekend in Williams Lake.
Rogers started rolling in with their trucks, tents and stage at 8 this morning on Oliver Street downtown.
Event coordinator Deb Radolla with the City of Williams Lake says the City was approached by Rogers after last summer’s devastating wildfires with the idea of helping some of the downtown businesses particularly hard struck by the wildfires.
“There was conversations between the City of Williams lake and Rogers Hometown Hockey and I guess the opportunity was presented to the city of would you like to have something really cool happen in the winter time that might help lift people out of the blues of the post-fire scenario that’s surrounding the businesses and peoples spirits.”
