Woman’s body pulled from Thompson River after crash

ASCHROFT, B.C. — Fears that someone was inside a vehicle that went into a river south of Ashcroft Saturday have proven true.

There were solemn mourners at the water’s edge Sunday at the Thompson River 15 kilometres south of Ashcroft, not far from Highway 1.

A truck was recovered Sunday along with the female victim’s body by an RCMP dive team.

A specialized swiftwater rescue crew was called from Kamloops Saturday, but they had to call off their operation.
