KAMLOOPS — Yet another sign of spring in Kamloops.

Crews have started its annual spring cleanup of city neighbourhoods.

“We have contract sweepers as well as our own crews out and about working in the valley bottom currently,” says Streets and Environmental Services Manager Glen Farrow with the City of Kamloops. “So, areas like Brock, North Shore, Westsyde, Batchelor. Working in the city on the north part of the community.”

Farrow expects the cleanup to last the entire month of April with the dirtiest sections to be found at higher elevations.

“Most of the focus is in the hills in the higher elevations. We’ll see more sand there. Less in Brock, the North Shore. As we move out of the valley bottom into the higher elevations we’ll see more sand applied. Places like Juniper Ridge and Aberdeen.”

Farrow says residents can also do their part to help like clearing sidewalks and more.

“Move anything that could be impeding our area to do a good job. Things like baskeball hoops, hockey nets, any other random things that folks have put in the street.”

The city says signage will be placed at least 24 hours before the area is scheduled to be swept.
