Joe Hicketts recalled by Red Wings, could play Tuesday night

KAMLOOPS — Joe Hicketts has been made available by the Detroit Red Wings and could be in the line-up for Tuesday night’s game against Pittsburgh.

The NHL club recalled Hicketts on Monday following a 4-2 loss to Montreal and reports from the Red Wings indicate this may be a longer stay for the 21 year old than in January when he played his first NHL game in New Jersey before being sent down to Grand Rapids the next day.

In his debut on Jan. 22, a 3-0 Detroit win, Hicketts played more than 15 minutes of ice time and recorded three blocked shots.

The Red Wings have been in need of defensemen since learning Mike Green needs neck surgery and is out for the year.
