“I believe my daughter was hunted, I felt that since day one,” she said. “Rori to me is everything. I am nothing without my daughter, I have nothing without my daughter.”

Dionne noted that Wednesday’s court appearance had been the first time she saw Strong.

“I was absolutely disturbed by what I seen in the courtroom, that man has no emotion,” she said, adding that she doesn’t know about any connection between Hache and Strong.

“My daughter was innocent blood.”

Dionne said she was in the hospital in August recovering from injuries sustained in a fire at the family home when Hache disappeared. It was while in hospital that she learned her daughter had been pregnant.

“Everything she did, she did wonderfully, so there would be no doubt in my mind being a mother she would have taken it to the top,” Dionne said.

On Sept. 11, a fisherman found a torso in a Lake Ontario harbour in Oshawa. By early November, DNA testing came back and linked the torso to the missing teen.

In late December, a worker found “something suspicious” in a basement apartment in Oshawa where Strong is believed to have lived, Durham regional police have said.

That person notified police who said last week that human remains found in the basement belonged to Hache. They also found a homemade bomb inside the apartment that they had to detonate outside.

Police said they will be combing through the home for a month because there is a large amount of evidence to go through.

Strong is set to return to court on Jan. 24.
