Kamloops canoe instructor pushing for improved access to local waterways
KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops canoe instructor is launching a push to create and protect access to Kamloops Lake and the Thompson Rivers.
Keiran Rankin is putting together a community group to lobby government on the issue.
He says opportunities to get to the waterside are inconsistent at best.
“As the city has developed, in many instances, the city in the past has not required that the right-of-ways have been maintained, and also that when new, large development goes in, that they set aside adequate river access in the form of small parks in all of the neighbourhoods,” said Rankin.
