Grass fire near Chase being ‘held’

CHASE — Some progress to report on the grass fire that ignited near Niskonlith Lake just west of Chase Wednesday afternoon.

“We have four crew members responding. They are doing some patrol and mopping up out there,” says Fire Information Officer Jody Lucius with the BC Wildfire Service. “The fire is currently listed as 160 hectares in size as an estimate and is being held at this time.”

She adds crews are hoping for some help from Mother Nature.

“The last update I heard was that there may be some sleet, or some rain, or some snow or some kind of precipitation coming down so hopefully that works in our favour.”
