Maple Leafs sign Holland, Corrado to one-year deals, avoiding arbitration

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs avoided arbitration with Peter Holland and Frankie Corrado, signing each to one-year contracts on Monday.

Coming off his most productive NHL season, one that saw him post a career-high 27 points in 65 games, Holland signed for US$1.3 million. The Caledon, Ont., native announced the news himself on Twitter, posting “Another year living my boyhood dream – Let’s rock.”

Corrado’s deal was a one-way pact worth $600,000. The 22-year-old, from nearby Woodbridge, Ont., had a rough first season as a Leaf and was a frequent healthy scratch. Picked up off waivers from Vancouver, Corrado didn’t play his first game with the Leafs until mid-December.

He finished with six points and positive puck possession numbers in 39 games.

Holland had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Monday with Corrado due up on Tuesday.
