KAMLOOPS — RCMP have arrested two women after a search warrant was executed with the help of the Emergency Response Team overnight.

Staff Sergeant Simon Pillay says it all started when police conducted a traffic stop earlier in the evening.

The RCMP arrested two men, and seized drugs and firearms, including a handgun with a silencer, an assault rifle, and another rifle.

A 32 year old man from Kamloops and a 31 year old from Blackpool were taken into custody.

Pillay says that investigation led to a residence on Linden Avenue, which is where the men were thought to have come from.

The search warrant was executed early this morning, and police arrested the two women, a 35 year old and a 33 year old, both from Kamloops. Several controlled substances were seized.

Pillay says the residence had previously been identified as a suspected location for drug trafficking.

Pillay says RCMP have intensified their investigation of groups suspected of using illegal firearms after a recent spate of shootings in the city.
