KAMLOOPS — A few frightening moments for people inside the John Tod Community Centre on the Kamloops North Shore this afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews rushed to the centre after the report of a fire.

Traci Anderson of the Kamloops Boys and Girls Club says it started at an electrical box.

“We noticed that there was smoke coming from one of our electrical boxes in our main hallway. We phoned 911 right away, we evacuated the building. By the time fire trucks arrived, there were flames, and they put them out,” explained Anderson.

Anderson says it’s unclear when or if the building will be back to normal.
