McDavid, Crosby, Bobrovsky named finalists for Hart Memorial Trophy

NEW YORK — Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid, along with Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets were named the three finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy on Monday.
The Hart Trophy is given to “the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.”
McDavid captured the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader after scoring 30 goals and 70 assists while playing in all 82 games this season. He also led the Oilers to second place in the Pacific Division and their first berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs since the 2005-06 campaign.
The 20-year-old registered at least one point in 59 of his 82 appearances and finished the year on a 14-game point streak. McDavid, from Newmarket, Ont., is trying to become the third player in NHL history to win MVP honours before his 21st birthday. Only Crosby and Wayne Gretzky have accomplished the feat.
