Canada goes winless at World Junior Summer Showcase after 5-1 loss to U.S.
PLYMOUTH, Mich. — Canada finished the World Junior Summer Showcase winless after a 5-1 defeat against the United States on Saturday.
The Canadian squad went 0-3 in the exhibition tournament. They also had a 2-1 overtime loss to Finland and a 5-1 defeat against Sweden earlier in the week.
“I was happy with how we played. It’s like coach said, it’s coming here and knowing the system so when you come in December you know what you have to do, you know how you have to play,” said Canada’s Mitch Marner.
“Obviously you always want to win, especially with Team Canada, but this week was all about learning and making sure you’re ready for December. We didn’t come here to play easy teams, we wanted to challenge ourselves in summer time and make sure that we know what we’re going to face in December.”
