KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a suspect in yesterday’s knifepoint robbery at a downtown bank has turned himself in.
According to Corporal Jodi Shelkie, the detachment received a call at about 6:00 p.m. yesterday from a man claiming he was the one who held up the Royal Bank on Victoria Street earlier in the afternoon.
When officers met him at a location downtown, they arrested him without incident.
Shelkie says the man matches the suspect in the robbery, and he will now face charges.
She notes the man is 24 years old, new to Kamloops, and doesn’t have a criminal history.
MONDAY — At about 3:20 p.m., a man brandished a knife and demanded cash from a teller at the RBC branch at 2nd Avenue and Victoria Street.
The suspect received a sum of money and took off on foot.
Witnesses described the suspect as white, about 5’11” with a shaved head.
At the time, he was wearing a brown jacket over top of a black leather jacket and jeans.
RCMP say no one was hurt and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.
