Kamloops real estate sales slow considerably in September

“A monthly decline – we saw that back in March of this year and then we bounced back in April,” said Quinton. “I don’t want to read to much into one-month numbers, but certainly we did see a decline in September compared to last year.”

Quinton reports 380 new listings came on stream in September, bringing the total active listings in Kamloops to 1,169.

That’s up slightly from October 1, 2017, though still about 20 per cent below historical norms.

With low inventory and steady demand, prices have been increasing.

Quinton says the average home sale price was $399,445 in September, a 4.6 per cent bump from September of 2017.

He says buyers are still waiting for the perfect opportunity.

“I think it’s more a matter of the right homes coming on the market. We’re still seeing pretty strong demand when certain homes come on. It is still challenging for buyers to get into the market and we are still seeing increases in pricing. We saw another uptick here (in September).”
