KAMLOOPS — The Blazers lost twice on Wednesday.

First the 2020 Memorial Cup bid, which has gone to the Kelowna Rockets.

Then a 7-3 loss to the Portland Winterhawks.

HIGHLIGHTS: Blazers lose 7-3 at home to Portland

After Martin Lang opened the scoring for the Blazers with his first Western Hockey League goal, Portland took over.

The Winterhawks outscored the Blazers 5-1 in the second with Luke Zazula scoring the second Kamloops goal.

The only goal in the third was by Kamloops with Brodi Stuart notching his team leading fourth of the season with 44 seconds left.

Power plays were a big factor —- the Blazers were 3-for-7 while the Winterhawks were 3-for-6.

“If all of our deficiencies had to come out, I hope they all came out in one game.” said a disgruntled Serge Lajoie, Blazers head coach.

“I haven’t seen a game where such poor habits were demonstrated all at once, and it just seemed to snowball for us.”
