“We cannot tolerate this type of white supremacist racism”: Skeetchestn chief
KAMLOOPS — The chief of the Skeetchestn First Nation says profanity-laden graffiti targeting a Secwepemc sign in Batchelor Heights angered him and he hopes whoever did it is caught.
A Secwepemc sign addressing mushroom picking in the area leading into Lac Du Bois was sprayed painted with profanity and messages including “White Power,” “White Is Right,” and “Indians Have Had Enough.” The sign has since been taken down after a photo of the graffiti circulated around the community, but Chief Ron Ignace says when he first saw the image, he was offended and angered.
