B.C. firefighting personnel head to Ontario and Quebec

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildfire Service is sending firefighting personnel to Ontario and Quebec this week to help with firefighting efforts in those provinces.

One hundred forty-five firefighters from the province – including 35 from the Kamloops Fire Centre – will be heading east.

Deployments last 19 days but they will head home should wildfires start up again in BC.

“Given the current fire activity in the forecast, we’re able to lend our resources to Ontario and Quebec,” says Kyla Fraser, fire information officer with the BC Wildfire Service.

“Obviously last year the support that they provided to us during our wildfire season was invaluable so we’re really happy to return the favour to them.”
