Eaglepoint campground plan moves one step forward

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops council will have some questions when a campground proposal goes to public hearing next month.

The 70-site campground is being proposed for Eaglepoint Golf Resort in Barnhartvale.

The plan also includes a 30-unit resort condo-style building.

At today’s regular meeting, Kamloops councillors Denis Walsh and Arjun Singh both questioned whether the campground would be able to allow year-round accommodation, or would restrict it to the warmer months.

“Not just for camping sites, but this notion of resort accommodation and townhouses,” said Singh. “I would also like to know does this mean a new residential subdivision, or does this mean accommodation, resort-type hotel [lodging]. That would be salient to my decision-making at the public hearing.”

According to a City of Kamloops staff report, water to the campground could not be provided unless upgrades to the municipal water system are made.

Sanitary and storm sewage would have to be provided on site.
