FOUR A-LISTERS TURNED DOWN BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN: While director Gus Van Sant promotes Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far, he has also made a point of dishing out some Hollywood juice. He told IndieWire that he was approached to direct Brokeback Mountain (Ang Lee got the gig), and he asked several major stars to be in the film, but they demurred. “I asked the usual suspects: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ryan Phillippe. They all said no.” Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger were eventually cast as the gay leads, and they both earned Oscar nominations for their work and blew up the long-held notion that playing a gay role would destroy a Hollywood star’s career, per the pub. NCIS FINDS PAULEY PERRETTE REPLACEMENT: CBS is promoting Diona Reasonover to series regular on NCIS after her character Kasie Hines was introduced late in season 15. She replaces Pauley Perrette‘s Abby Sciuto, who was featured in the past 15 seasons. Days after her May 8thfinale, Perrette spoke out about her departure on Twitter. “I refused to go low, that’s why I’ve never told publicly what happened. But there are tabloid articles out there that are telling total lies about me. If you believe them? Please leave me alone. You clearly don’t know me. (Sorry guys, had to be said),” Perrette, 49, tweeted. A day later she tweeted that she was bullied and suffered “multiple physical assaults.” CBS then acknowledged that Perrette had come forward with a “workplace concern” and that the network had “worked hard to resolve it.” (People)
