SHAWN MENDES, MEGHAN TRAINOR, & ELLA MAI JOIN FORCES FOR ‘WE CAN SURVIVE’ CONCERT: Shawn Mendes hit the stage for a performance at the 2018 We Can Survive concert on Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Also performing at the Radio.com event were Meghan Trainor, Ella Mai, Charlie Puth, Khalid, Tyga, G-Eazy, NF, and Marshmello. The sixth annual concert was held in support of the Young Survival Coalition, which is dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Shawn and Khalid teamed up during the show for a collaboration of their song “Youth.” Tyga surprised the crowd by bringing out Chris Brown. Fans went wild as the two have been rumored to be collaborating on a new project.
SONGWRITER AWARDED $44 MILLION IN LAWSUIT OVER USHER’S 2004 SONG ‘BAD GIRL’: A Philadelphia court has awarded songwriter Daniel Marino $44 million in damages for not receiving credit for co-writing “Bad Girl” from Usher’s 2004 album, Confessions. Marino sued one of the song’s co-writers, William Guice, and Destro Music Productions owner Dante Barton. Destro Music produced the song with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Guice was ordered to pay $27 million, and Barton was ordered to pay $7 million. Marino filed a civil suit alleging fraud and breach of contract, claiming that he worked with Guice and Barton to create and record a song titled “Club Girl,” which was renamed “Bad Girl.” He also claimed they had a contract to split credit and royalties for the song, but that Guice and Barton made a secret deal to cut him out of the profits.
DRAKE BREAKS THE BEATLES’ RECORD FOR MOST BILLBOARD HOT 100 TOP TEN HITS IN A YEAR: Drake is making history again: He’s broken The Beatles’ record for most Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hits in a year. Drizzy was tied with the Fab Four with 11 Top 10 hits. This week, he moves ahead of them with his 12 Top 10 in 2018: He’s a featured artist on Bad Bunny’s “MIA,” which debuts at No. 5. The Beatles set their record in 1964. Drake now has a career total of 32 Top 10 hits, the most of any male performer. Only Madonna with 38, and The Beatles with 34, have more.
BTS MEMBER RM RELEASES SOLO MIXTAPE, ‘FOREVER RAIN’ VIDEO: South Korean rapper RM is back with new solo music. The 24-year-old member of the K-pop group BTS released the mixtape Mono and a music video for the single “Forever Rain” on Monday. The moody “Forever Rain” video features animated illustrations. RM raps on the track about wishing for rain, explaining, “Cuz then people wouldn’t stare at me.” Billboard said RM produced the album with Pdogg and Hiss Noise, in addition to writing and composing each track. The rapper released his debut solo mixtape, RM, in March 2015. Meanwhile, the BTS documentary Burn the Stage: The Movie will open in theaters worldwide November 15th. The film follows the K-pop group on their BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings tour, which took place in 2017.
