Candidate nomination packages now available

KAMLOOPS — Municipal candidates, start your engines!

2018 nomination packages are now available for those interested in running for Kamloops City Council or for a trustee spot with School District 73.

Elections will be held October 20, and for the first time, digital nomination packages on USB sticks are available in addition to the printed packages available at City Hall.

“We wanted to try to eliminate paper copies where we could, yet continue to accommodate those who are more comfortable with paper packages,” says Scott Redgrove, chief election officer.

“It’s an opportunity for us to be more sustainable while improving services to those who prefer digital formats, or who aim to save paper.”

He says a limited number of pre-loaded USB sticks are available, but if people bring their own USB stick, election staff will upload the package to the stick for them.

The city and school district won’t accept nomination packages until September 4, and they must be submitted by September 14.
